Family Contract

CONTRACT DESCRIPTION
The Spring Creek Middle School and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs agree that this contract outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.This school-parent compact is in effect during school year 2021-2022.

REQUIRED SCHOOL-PARENT COMPACT PROVISIONS:
SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITIES: Spring Creek Middle School is committed to:

  • Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows: Provide students with accessible copy of current curriculum, offer engaging and challenging tasks in alignment with the Common Core Framework and practice standards, and offer extra help and intervention when needed.
  • Hold student led conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Specifically, those conferences will be held: November 3rd through the 5th, 2021.
  • Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Specifically, the school will provide reports as follows: Live grades that are updated a minimum of once per week on Infinite Campus, and access to MAP growth scores and data reports.
  • Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows: Every business day during school hours 7:15 am to 2:45 pm via email and phone (non-teaching hours only for teachers), meetings with the teaching team, counselor and/or administrators by appointment.
  • Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows: volunteering, participating and observing in classrooms is encouraged any day during your child’s class time, as long as prior notification is given to the classroom teacher.

FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES: We, as parents, will support our children’s learning in the following ways:

  • Monitor daily attendance
  • Communicate with teacher and student when extra help or support is needed
  • Monitor screen time hours at home
  • Volunteer in my child’s classes and extracurricular activities requiring parent supervision such as sporting events, dances, plays, etc.
  • Participate in decisions relating to my child’s education, as appropriate
  • Staying informed of school activities and schedule by reading/listening to all notices sent out via email or phone and responding, as appropriate
  • Serving, to the extent possible, on policy advisory groups and/or PTA

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES: We, as students, will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve the State’s high standards. Specifically, we will:

  • Come to class prepared each day with a positive attitude toward learning and growth
  • Communicate with family and teachers when extra help or support is needed
  • Monitor grades and send weekly reports home to families during advisory grade checks
  • Give this and other notices from the school to my parent or guardian each day
  • Read and get plenty of exercise and sleep outside of school time
